From 1989 to 1998, we had 550 kids in the Kangaroo program, in the city of Cochabamba, at 2.500mts. of altitud. In the last four years 249 who wer preterm or born with Low Birth Weigth. The diagnosis at born were. Sepsis, Respiratory Distress Syndrome, etc. The time of permanence in the Hospital was between 7 to 14 days. At the present time, teh control in our Program.is free and any time, but regulary each 15 days. In the control we are using: Metrocopramide, Sulfato Ferroso, Teophilina, Acid and Zinc, from the first month of life. With the use of zinc (2mg/Kg/day) we have reached an increase of 30 grs a day, before the use of Zinc only 15grs/day.
